Mothers Day 2010 in Manti

Lots of things have happened in the last few days that I thought, "I should put that in my blog", and wouldn't you know it, I have forgotten almost all of them. :) I did however want to say happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers out there, and give a special Mother's Day wish to all the mothers who have filled the gap for me as a mother figure over the last 8 years since my own dear mother died.

Mother's Day is not always an easy time for me, as it was just weeks before mothers day that my own mom died April 28th 2002. I still remember sitting in church on that first mother's day without her, and crying, and crying, and crying. I miss her dearly.

Every Mother's day since she passed, I have driven the 1 1/2 hours to Manti, and sat with her at her graveside. This year was no exception, and it was a lovely day. We visited other family graves, and we were able to talk to our children about relatives that have gone before us and our family legacy and memories of Grandma Anna.

Whenever we talk about Grandma Anna, Ally always asks, "Mom, is Grandma Anna alive yet?" And I tell her no, not until Jesus comes again. :) What a wonderful day that will be, I can't wait for them to meet here, and to hug her again.

I hope to someday be as wonderful of a mother as she was, full of love and faith. She was all that I aspire to be.

What a great tribute to your mom. I think she taught you well. You are an amazing mom (and friend)!

that's a neat picture. I think it's good for kids to have the perspective from the grave and we have that too, in Adrian's dad's grave. It's great to be inspired by someone who lived like you want to!

I still miss her, too, and think of her so often. Whenever I am in Manti I, too, always go visit her resting place. And I still cry. I can hardly wait for it to be happy tears, too. Love you dearly.
